The series Carbon Based Life Forms was created through burning organic matter with glass. When hot glass is poured over organic matter, it alters the material state from solid to gas, transforming objects to ash and bubbles. In Universal Truth air bubbles represent memory; ash becomes the impressions we leave behind. The attempt to trap organic matter in domes of glass demonstrates the futile attempt to immortalize what is inherently subject to decay.

Circles have no beginning and no end, much like a cycle, and much like the universe. In comparing cycles of life and death in humans and in celestial phenomena, the persistence of change is constant throughout time. Impermanence is more apparent in humans than in outer space, but we sometimes forget that even stars die.
